Westline Speedway will swing into action for the last time this season (Saturday 15th of May 2010) With the South Australian Speedway season winding down, race fans from all corners of the compass are invited to make the journey to where the desert meets the sea to take in some out back Speedway action before the long cold winter sets in and Speedway addicts are reduced to watching Speedway DVD's to get their fix of action.
This weekend's activities will host 8 classes, featuring almost 70 competitors be dual headlined by the AMCA Nationals and the Lightning Sprints. The V8 powered AMCA Nationals will be out in force and keen for some wheel to wheel action. Defending the home town honour will be a trio of locals in Litterini, Brown and Maxwell and leading the charge coming from Adelaide will be Chadwick, Hartman and co, all keen to claim the feature win on the line.
The ‘things with wings’, Lightning Sprints are also expected to provide some great competition as the 'guys and gal' get set to slug it out in the sixth and final round of the Smithfield Crash Repairs SA Challenge Series. The Wingless Sprints will also be racing hard for victory and in addition to these two popular opened wheel classes Speedway sedan fans will be able to feast on four classes of the tin topped warriors.
Never before has Whyalla hosted 3 Late Model's, these things are loud and proud as they stand on the gas and the word is the race fans from the desert city are looking forward to watching these things blast around the track. The Super Sedans will be making a welcomed return to the venue after an absence of a few seasons with Schwartz and Cottrell set to make their respective debuts in the class. The Street Stocks will also be out to do battle as the Holden v Ford war continues to rage, who will get the upper hand? and last but not least will be the stars of tomorrow in the Junior Sedan ranks.
Last but not least the hands of time will turn will reverse to a time of yesteryear as at least 8 or more Classic Speedcars will put on a spirited demonstration run and that will set an historical back drop for a great night of racing.
So get your mates together, pack the car and venture to Whyalla this weekend as the city of steel’s Westline Speedway is ready, set and waiting to entertain... Gates will be opened to the public from 4:00pm while practice will start around 6pm with racing scheduled to start straight after.
Whyalla Speedway has full canteen and bar facilities and people are welcomed to camp at the track over night.

Foot note: Westline Speedway Co Promoter Robbie 'Waka' Stevens has been injured in a serious workshop accident during the week leading up to this event while fitting a tyre to a rim. He is currently in the Royal Adelaide Hospital's Intensive Care Unit, after almost completely severing his right arm, and sustaining broken ribs, a punctured lung and facial injuries in a freak accident. On behalf of the Speedway family of South Australia and beyond we wish 'Waka' a speedy recovery.
