The Victorian AMCA club held its annual presentation awards banquet last weekend (Saturday 8th) just one week after concluding their point scoring season and in the end it was Mick Kiraly and his self constructed Panther Chassis cars that swept the majority of the awards on offer.

The most keenly contested Club Overall Champion trophy fell to Kiraly after a stellar season that saw him top the list of feature winners. When not winning events, Kiraly was usually on the podium.

The overall champion is decided from a combined sub-set of point scoring series’ known as the Action series - held at what are considered to be metropolitan tracks - and the Country series, held obviously at country speedways.

In the Action series it was a trio of Panther cars that brought home the bacon led by current NSW champion Mark Lincoln, followed by Stewart Grant-Campbell and then by the Panther man himself, Mick Kiraly.

The Country Cup saw last seasons’ rookie of the year Dave May in yet another Panther take the title from Daniel Scott and Kiraly.

Kiraly’s consistency across both series’ contributed to his overall championship.
The prestigious Reidy Memorial also went to Kiraly who narrowly beat the races namesake and grandson Tim Reidy to the hardware. Ballarat’s Paul Forrest was third.

This year a new award was instigated being the Dale Matthews Best and Fairest award. Matthews, the creator of AMCA Nationals, was only too pleased to put his name to this honor which, not surprisingly went to Kiraly as voted by a cast of independent voters across all the clubs events throughout the season.

The winner was truly humbled and surprised to be the inaugural recipient. Reidy was the runner up in this contest reflecting his improved performances behind the wheel.

As stated earlier the award for the most feature wins went to Kiraly also.

The Rookie of the year award had a few nominations but in the end it was young Jamie Collins who got the gong with some great performances belying his rookie status.

Alan Howe was adjudged the most improved and his father Daryl was granted the crew member of the year award for his selfless assistance to others in need as well as his own son.

Adam Timberlake was given the encouragement prize.

Steve Ryan was seen as the personality of the year and Bruce Taits' long suffering partner Kim was recognized as ‘The Trooper’ for her quiet efforts to help her mans racing efforts. Bruce Tait himself was not without an award as he took home the loyalty award.

Frank Thiery won the best presented car award for his always pristine yellow and white #7.

Best presented crew went to Peachey racing, while Bill Lodwick Jnr received the tongue in cheek male anatomy award.

AMCA Victoria would like to thanks all of its Sponsors, Drivers, Crews, Officials and of course the fans for their fantastic support this season and look forward to an even better season in 2010/2011.
