Victorian Adam King claimed the biggest win of his career as he completely dominated the 2010 Christies Beach Auto Centre Australian AMCA National Championship at the Moore Engineering Murray Bridge Speedway. After starting from the pole position King drove a smooth calculated race as he led the entire 30 lap journey to win the final in style. He did however have to hold off a late race challenge from Tasmania’s Cory Smith after a caution with seven laps to go bunched up the field.

Rounding out the podium place getters was 2009 Champion Shane McKinnell who drove a superb race fighting his way to third after starting from position ten. The top five in the Championship decider were Victorians Daniel Scott and Frank Theirry.

One of the real hard luck stories of the event was Victorian Mick Kiraly who spun out early in the event after starting from position two robbing him of a chance to fight with King for overall honors.

Earlier in the night the final round of heats was conducted with Mark Lincoln, Tim Woolfe, Kiraly, King, Peter Wollschlager and David Robertson taking out a preliminary heat each. The C-main saw locals Stephen Schwartz and rookie Michael Hartman progress to the rear of the B-Main while David Hartman and Gaerth Stevens were the transferees from an incident packed B-main event.

In what was a huge double feature at Murray Bridge the Grand Final of the Carline Mufflers Super Sedan Series was also held with a mammoth 40 lap final to decide the overall series Champion. In the end it was Matt Pascoe who drove his Sweet Chassis to the overall win but current Australian Champion Darren Kane emerged with the round win. “Tonight it was one of those tracks you just couldn’t make a mistake on. It feels great to win again here at Murray Bridge as I won my first Australian Championship here back in 2004” added Kane after the event.

Second across the line for the second night in succession was New South Welshman Clayton Pyne with Wayne Brims crossing the line in third but after failing to go to the scales he was excluded from the event elevation local South Australian Dave Gartner onto the podium.

For the second night in a row one of the stars of the night was Tasmanian Sam Hughes who one again sat on the front row after a stunning qualifying effort but an early race spin on lap eight forced him to drop several spots and he eventually finished in sixth.

Throughout the night the heat victories went to Kane (2), Pyne, Kevin Purton, Gartner, Jamie McHugh, Trent Wilson, Matt Pascoe and Hughes.
