:: Sloper Charles Racing - Number 5 Is Alive!

We won our feature event! Well we may not have won THE race but just making it to the track for the first time this season was victory in it's self for our little AMCA Nationals Race team when we ventured to Adelaide's Speedway City to run the supporting role in the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars / East Coast Pipelines Speedweek round 1 on Boxing Day.

Just getting to the event was up hill battle, With only two days before the event all seemed lost and it looked like we would be a scratching, as a last hope we threw a message for help up on Facebook, and thankfully Brett Chadwick, Stuart Pope and Mick Lewis just to name a few came to our rescue. We worked solidly on the car on Christmas night, loading it on to the trailer at 1:00 AM and taking it home before going out to Brett Chadwick's house on the afternoon leading up to the event. Brett got the car going and we were off to the track!

'This was the first time that our Starfire Pizza / Maddern Oils s5 AMCA has run for the season so we still have a few mechanical bugs to iron out, which we will do in time,' said team driver Jason Sloper.

We managed to finish both our heat races and the main event where we finished 17th out of 20 cars. While that maybe down the back for many; for us that was a good first up night and we will improve with time. The crowd was fantastic, an estimated 10,000 people in the joint and the AMCA's put on a good show. We tried very hard to promote our sponsors and Jason was kept busy signing autograph photo cards at the end of the night in the pit area.

'Jason did a fantastic job to steer a car that was not running at full capacity due to a fuel issue that we hope to have sorted when we Jason bolts his new motor between the chassis rails. As for my old motor we could really do with a hand in getting it running right, any helpers please let me know!?'

While we are only a small team the assistance of our friends and supporters is greatly valued and we thank you all again for looking after our little team.
